Introduction of the Multi-depth Sampler

30.08.2012  by  Bouke Krom

Recently, CytoBuoy b.v. has expanded the range of marine flow cytometry accessories with an advanced system for automatic multi-depth sampling on monitoring locations. The system is controlled by the CytoSense flow cytometer. Using the features for controlling and scheduling the system over the internet, this opens possibilities for an autonomous in-situ system that samples from multiple locations.
The Multi-depth Sampler currently uses six tubings of different lengths that can be connected to a waterfront unit to draw up water from several depths. The sampled water runs via a processing unit to the CytoSense unit for analysis. A flushing fluid tank with pump and valve allow flushing of the lines, so they won't get clogged or fouled.
The photo shows the first system delivered at the Centre d’Océanologie de Marseille. The unit will be put into operation at the Berre Lagoon monitoring site later this year, updates to follow!
